Lewis and Elijah were brothers. It is believed that they and a third brother named George ( who resided in Indiana) were born in Virginia to Thomas Land (who died abt. 1810). After migrating to Ohio Lewis was a justice of peace in Gallia County for a time and died 1 Feb 1844. After marrying in Gallia County in 1825, Elijah resided in Milton Twp. of Jackson County with three sons under age of 5 yrs according to 1830 census. My gggrandfather, John Lewis Land, is believed to be a fourth son born 29 Jun 1831 in Jackson County who was married tiwce, lived in NE, MO and IA and raised a family of twelve. I am still seeking proof that Elijah is his father.

Samuel M. Malone was a Methodist Episcopal minister, he married Susan C. Smith, daughter of Christopher and Mary Hank Smith. Samuel lived in Columbiana County as a young man, marrying Susan. In addition to being a minister, he was also a carpenter. 1860 census shows them living in Springfield Township in Gallia County. Susan died between 1861-1862. Samuel then married her sister, Mary Virginia Smith. The family moved to Jackson County, Ohio in 1870 and then moved to Missouri in 1880. Samuel was the son of Jacob and Ann Bradfield Malone.

Robert died in 1865 after serving in the Civil War.

The Neal family lived several doors away from the Haywards on Third Street in the late 1800's so my grandmother (Helen Irene Hayward Jones) seemed to know quite a bit about them. Also, her grandmother was a Neal. From her informaiton, I've been able to find connections to other Neal families. The ladies back then seemed to be very interested in genealogy and so tracked down revolutionary war records, and family connections so they could join the DAR and the Mayflower Society. And they never threw a scrap of paper away !!

My Sheets family goes through both my Great-grandparents, Perry Clayton & Emma Rowena Caldwell Gatewood. William Sheets was married to Elizabeth Henry(Emma's grandparents), his half brother George, Jr. was married to Anna Henry(P.C.'s grandparents). Paul Terry sr came to Gallia County abt 1798 from Canada.He had been a Loyalist during the war so had to flee to Canada. He married Bethia there. When he returned he brought his wife and 5 or 6 children. Paul sr and Paul jr are my 2 ans 3 grgrandfathers. Paul jr`s son David Edward Terry is my grgrandfather and John Terry born 1867 my grandfather,. I would like to find any information about any of them and will pay what is required.

David Allen White was born in Gallia County, Ohio on April 4, 1835. He was the father of Charles, William, Carrie, Francis, Daisy, Flossie and Lewis. Charles spent his entire life in Gallia County. William moved to Montrose Colorado for health reasons. Carrie married Charles Topping of Racoon Twp. and they both died in Wood County, Ohio. Francis married Fred Childers and spent her entire life in Gallia County. Daisy married Charles Childers, and spent her entire life in Gallia County. Flossie spent her entire life in Gallia County. Lewis spent his entire life in Gallia County. I would appreciate any information about this family.

Miles married Anna Brandum in WV in 1868 and had a son, William (1869), before coming to Ohio. William married Emma Keeler. Their second son, Charles Williams (1872) married Mary Etta Rowley. Two more sons, Edward and Perry are listed on the 1880 census but I have no other information. Minnie Williams (1880) married John McCann in Ross County, Ohio. Eva Williams (1884) married Frank Acord in Ross County. Any information on these indidivuals would be most appreciated.
