Allisons celebrate 51 years of marriage
After their golden wedding anniversary celebration a year ago, Mr. and Mrs. Allison 133 Portsmouth Rd., Gallipolis, plan a quiet observance today of their 51st anniversary.
Mrs. Allison is not in good enough physical condition to receive large numbers of people, but the couple would welcome friends of their own generation.
She was Goldie Elizabeth Brown before her marriage Nov. 20, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a grocer, but he acquired regional fame through his skill at pitching horseshoes,
They have two children: Vivian Allison, Detroit, Mich. Who works in free lance court transcription; and Roger Allison, who lives with his family in Waverly, at Lake White, principal of Pike County High School: he and his wife have two children – Cassandra, a freshman at Ohio University, and Chadwick, a Waverly High School junior.
Walter Allison was associated for a number of years with F. E. Kerr as an employee in the grocery business and later with Everett 1951 the Allisons moved to Jackson, where Walter served the Evans Grocery Co. (which became Wiseman”s Grocery). They returned to Gallipolis in 1964 where Walter worked for his brother John Allison at Allison Electric Co., until his retirement in 1977.
